Year 'round, outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of activity in Northwestern Vermont. The varied climate and terrain, plus the country's sixth Great Lake create an ideal setting for exploring and enjoying recreation and sports of all kinds.

The Greater Burlington region offers:

Golf Courses - 9 & 18 hole - Rolling terrain and moderate summer temperatures combine to make Vermont's golf courses challenging, lush and enjoyable throughout the season.

Skiing - Within a relatively small geographic area, Vermont has 20 alpine ski areas - by far the greatest concentration of skiing facilities in the eastern United States.

Marinas, Lake Cruises, Charters, Boating & Sailing - Lake Champlain offers unparalleled opportunities for boaters and sailors. The lake is served by many private marinas and features numerous public boat accesses.

Water Skiing, Swimming - In addition to more than 200 miles of shoreline along Lake Champlain, Vermont has more than 400 lakes and ponds and several hundred miles of navigable rivers.

Fishing - Vermont is renowned for both warm water and cold water fishing. More than 400 lakes and ponds and some 5,000 miles of fishable streams lie within the valleys of the Green Mountains. Visit the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife.

Canoeing & Kayaking - Several of Vermont's major rivers provide long stretches ideal for canoe trips, and certain areas are popular for whitewater kayaking and rafting during the spring and early summer.
